Putting it out there…

After a long time of thinking of, talking about and experimenting with, what it is I like to do in life, I came to the following conclusion: I want to create.
Illustrations, websites, animations… I can make them. Autonomously. But also on demand.

To reflect what I’m capable of, I put a lot of effort into my new website. I’ve tried to stay true to myself, in order to create unique content. Here’s what I did:

I’ve spent…

  • …A lot of time drinking coffee or tea with people to find out what they do and what they need
  • …Even more time drinking coffee or tea with people to find out what it is I want
  • …Two weeks creating several designs for my new website (directly in HTML and CSS). One version even included a video background that I made in one day.
  • …Three days of drawing, inking and coloring illustrations to visualize my story.

  • …Three days developing the website (creating a fully functional WordPress driven website based on a Bootstrap framework).
  • …Another two days to fill my new portfolio with images and descriptions.

  • …Two hours to write my story and another two hours to shorten it.

Progress
So now I’m putting my story out there… And as I’m adding items to my portfolio and writing stories on my blog, I will continue to tell my story.
My portfolio will show my progress as an illustrator and designer. On my blog I will continue to reflect on what inspires and intrigues me.

Reinventing Edward Kobus
Working on my online portfolio was really insightful. I had to reinvent myself and find out what it is I really like working on. Then I had to imagine how I could share this with others.
The whole process of creating this website, gave me the opportunity to take a close look at the way I work. I think it can be best described as what now is my mantra: Get real. Picture it!
